Gaeddu College of Business Studies (GCBS)
The only premier government college under the Royal University of Bhutan offering full time contemporary business and management education in the country. Located in Gedu, a town 45 km away from Phuentsholing (on the route to Thimphu) .
The College has its campus spread over 289 acres of land four times larger than the other colleges under the Royal University of Bhutan. The original plan of the establishment was first conceived by His Majesty the Fourth King and the Royal Government.
In the 85th session of the National Assembly, the Parliament resolved to establish a premier government business college at Gedu in the campus developed by the Tala Hydroelectric Project Authority (THPA) which is a joint project between the Government of India and the Royal Government of Bhutan. With the intension of establishing a full fledged premier business college at Gedu, the Royal University of Bhutan decided to shift the faculty of Commerce from Sherubtse College to the newly established college.
The present Director, Mr.Lhato Jamba was then appointed by the Royal Government as the Project Director to lay the foundation and supervise the modifications of the existing infrastructure into an educational institution. Subsequently he took over as the first director of the college. Under his able leadership the college has become at par with other older colleges under the RUB within a very short span of time. The achievements so far are the large enrolement of students, world class infrastructures in place, world class teaching faculty, 100% employment for its graguates and many more. But the only setback is the credit not rewarded to its graduates for their four year course (one year more than general graduates) by the RCSC and other employers.

| The thrust area of the Programme in Gedu will be the provision of education and training in Business and Legal Studies.Gaeddu college will aspire to develop into a business school with the aim of gradually nurturing the college into a center of excellence in business and studies. |

To firmly establish our identity as the center of excellence in business and management studies. To develop a strong sense of work culture that will foster the overall development of students. To develop student's ability to organise, plan and present work both autonomously and as part of a team. To develop student's understanding of the nature of professional responsibility. To develop the curricula which are relevant and responsive to the needs and aspiration of our country in the areas of business and legal studies. To initiate and develop a Masters Program of reasonable size and reputation under the Royal University of Bhutan. To effectively compete for and retain qualified faculty. To develop capacity to respond to teaching, research and service needs of the society.
